Troop History

| The troop has had the number 215 since its initial charter. It was chartered in 1922 to Bethel Presbyterian Church, Brookside Farms, PA.
In the 1940’s, the municipality was incorporated as Bethel Park because, up to that point, Bethel Presbyterian Church had been one of the central institutions and the source of many others in the community. The troop has a framed charter from the first renewal. It hung for many years in the display case in the church fellowship hall, now called “Galbraith Hall”. There are plans to hang it in a display case in the east entry room to the church. In the 1990’s, Eagle Scout Jonathan Koltash gathered a list of Eagle Scouts from the roster at Flag Plaza. In 2006, ASM (and Eagle Scout) David Koltash searched the National Eagle Scout Register and assembled a list which he then refined by assembling copies of all of the charters from 1923. These materials are in the care of the Committee Chair and will be consolidated in a repository of history when the new display case is complete. Records of campouts can be reconstructed from historical troop calendars maintained by ASM James Hardy. In the 1950’s, a Cub Pack was established as Pack 215 and operated through the 1970’s. Pack 215 was reestablished at Bethel Presbyterian Church through the efforts of Tom Hertneky in 1992. |
